Paper licences, municipalities and three languages: the Belgian specifics
Belgium has its own particularities: licences are issued by the municipalities, and the old paper model is still in circulation alongside the bank-card format — both are eligible for translation, as long as every entry remains legible. Language is another specificity: depending on your municipality, your licence is drawn up in French, Dutch or German. It makes no difference for Japan: the official translation covers the document exactly as it is, whatever its language.
